2007 International
Collage Exchange (ICE)
I sent 13 works
to NZ for the 9th International Collage Exchange (ICE), formerly
known as the Bakers Dozen. My works were all titled Space Debris, a reference
to clutter in space. See the images here.
About 200 artists
participated in the ICE this year. Each person sent 13 original small collages
to Dale Copeland in NZ. Dale sorts and organizes all the works. She creates
the cyber show and installs the brick and mortar show in Plymouth, NZ. She
selects the return packages. Everyone gets 12 works in a return package and
a list of all the participants, their state and country and email addresses,
and the names of people who received their work – I know that my work
is now in the UK, NZ and in the USA (CA, MO, AZ, FL, NJ, NY, WA). It’s
a huge project. BRAVO Dale.
See the archived
2007 show – one work from each artist – at http://outofsight.co.nz.
Information on
next year’s exchange and exhibition is already posted. Works must arrive
before 20th March 2008. One work from each artist will be shown
on the Virtual TART site at http://virtual.tart.co.nz during
April 2008, then permanently on the net on the outofsight.co.nz site. The
10th ICE exhibition-exchange collection will be donated to Armarillo
Art Alliance, a non-profit support organization for the Amarillo Museum of
Art (AMoA) in Texas.
The artists whose
work I received live in the UK, NZ, and the USA: AZ, CA,
WA, NY, MO, and 3 from Boca Raton FL (one is a transplant from Argentina).See
their works below. The range was amazing – collage paintings, mixed
media with mesh, embellished foam and felt, sewn silk and paper, photos and
text, and canceled stamps and pieced text. The artists include:
