I know Diane Cashman as a painter. She has a
wonderful sense of color and abstract design. She wanted to explore
color and texture and interpret her paintings in collage. I invited her
to come to my studio and work.
I think she was inspired by the
paper inventory and the library I keep at the studio. She relates to the
subtle and delicate and naturally textured papers that I’ve purchase
at NY Central Artist Supply - www.nycentralart.com

has a very comprehensive site with a lot of good information on papers.
You can view their paper catalog online, but seeing the incredible
selection of papers in the store is worth the trip if you’re able to
get to NYC.

Emergence/Convergence

My New Rochelle studio is ideal for private classes and
small workshops in collage, drawing and printmaking. I welcome
inquires about group and private classes and offsite workshops.
Over
the past few years I’ve led
workshops at the Newark Museum in NJ.
On
May 6, participants at the Photo Collage workshop at the
Musuem created mixed media works with large color photocopy
papers, graphic images and personal photos. On July 20, participants
at the Landscape in Collage workshop at the Museum worked with
handmade papers and painted papers to create colorful Impressionistic
landscapes. My next workshop at the Museum will be Creative
Collage Using Signs, Symbols and Graphic Images and is scheduled for Sunday,
Nov. 4, 2007, 10:00-4:00.
The Newark Museum is located at 49 Washington Ave., Newark,
NJ (newarkmusuem.org). Museum Member: $72, Non- member: $80,
Materials Fee: $15. Classes are not too large and all participants
get individual attention. |
