The CACTUS 4 Series
includes 13 unique works. Each is an interpretive portrait of
the Saguaro cactus found in the high Sonoran Desert in
Arizona. The images are botanically inspired, pieced together
paintings. The cactus is a metaphor for armor and safety. The
cactus is also my hand. In 2001 I said I want to be a cactus
(I want to be safe).
CACTUS
4 presents a dilemma. It’s a duality. It is threatening. It
is also threatened. Don’t get too close, and don’t
touch.
The
Cactus 4 series lends itself to exhibition as a horizontal
group of 4, 6 and 8 works because the media and colors are
related. To see the entire series, go to the catalog
