Cactus 4-9 and Cactus Party are oil transfer drawings. The process involves placing paper onto a film of oil paint and drawing on the back of the paper. Paul Gauguin created oil transfer drawings (using oil based print inks). Paul Klee, a Swiss 20th century master I admire very much, created oil transfer drawings embellished with watercolor.
