“The artworks on the walls in the gallery by Karen Fitzgerald, Nancy Egol Nikkai and Kristi Reed don’t claim to be the answers.  They’re the questions, the explorations, the searching we so often embark upon ourselves.”  — Janet Purcell, Trenton Times

…. “Nancy Egol Nikkal’s collages and paintings anchor the exhibit with geometric shapes and strong patterning.  Often, because her painted forms are so precisely done, it is difficult to differentiate between her collages and her paintings.  Her “Metro” series presents dozens of rectangles, squares.  In some, green is the predominant color.  Another is highlighted in teal and another is green, white, black and red.  The interesting thing to note is some in this series are collages while others are paintings.  Pay careful attention to her large acrylic on canvas, “Nines” where the number nine sometimes appears prominently and other times only obscurely.

“Her adept manipulations of contrasting color create a sense of movement – the surfaces seem to breathe,” Geisler says. “She is dedicated to exploring the layering of materials as well as the layering of form and pattern.”
